Nokia N97 comparisons

Nokia N97 is probably the world's most advanced mobile computer launched this year, but it has some competitive challengers as well. See how N97 do in comparisons by independent reviewers:

Australian IT: Nokia N97 priced to match iPhone 3G in Australia.

"The N97 sports screen widgets capable of carrying fast updating content and News Limited, (publisher of The Australian), the ABC, Austereo and Facebook have all developed widgets to take advantage of the phone’s busy home screen."

Slick Competition by SunSentinel.com: The Apple iPhone 3.0, Palm Pre and Nokia N97 face off.

"Nokia's new phone ($699, 32GB) needs its own theme song, considering it is an iPhone on steroids. It comes with a 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics camera (compared with the others' 3) that shoots video and still photos with a built-in dual flash."

eWeek.com Mobile & Wireless: Nokia N97 Smartphone Looks to Challenge iPhone 3G S, Palm Pre:

"The device is Nokia's first to include a personalized home screen, where users can customize which widgets are displayed whenever they turn on their phone. These widgets, accessible through Nokia's Ovi Store, include not only social-networking apps such as Facebook and newswire services such as Associated Press and Bloomberg, but also productivity tools and games."

jkOnTheRun: Palm Pre Hitting EU Nations by Year-End — Should Nokia Be Worried?

"How will the introduction of a new handset and platform shake up the European market share numbers? "

PC World: Smartphone Palooza: 10 Hot Touchscreens Compared.

"If you want lots of storage space so you can carry your music around with you, the 32GB iPhone 3GS or the Nokia N97 is a strong candidate.
If you take a lot of pictures, choosing a phone with a 5-megapixel camera--like the Samsung Galaxy, the Samsung Omnia or the Nokia N97--is a good idea."

GulfNews.com: Nokia N97 makes a practical choice

"On the one hand, even a cursory examination of the phones shows that the N97 is obviously Nokia's answer to the Apple iPhone. It has a large touch screen and is heavily geared towards anyone who is looking for a rich internet experience.
On the other hand, the phone has a number of features that seem geared to set it apart from the iPhone, including a sliding QWERTY keyboard, an FM broadcaster and an ability to recognise handwriting."

Nokia E75 review at The Sydney Morning Herald

The Sydney Morning Herald reviews Nokia E75 and writes - NOKIA has produced two excellent and deservedly popular business-minded mobiles in recent years. The E51 is a solid yet stylishly compact "candy bar" handset with a standard alphanumeric keypad, while the E71 (and the more budget-minded E63, for that matter) has a large square screen and qwerty keyboard. With the new E75, Nokia has borrowed a little from each of them while adding some new twists to the mobile mix. Foremost is the new Nokia Messaging service, which delivers BlackBerry-style email. This works across a refreshingly broad range of email services from web-based email such as Google and Windows Live Hotmail, plus ISPs including BigPond, OptusNet, iiNet and Internode. Nokia has streamlined the set-up process for all these so that there's minimal pain - you need only enter your email address and password.
